Presidents Message
Dear Fellow Foundrymen,
It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome you all to the Garden City of India to celebrate the countries largest foundry conclave which is a mega event of our Institute – The 60th Indian Foundry Congress & Indian Foundry Exhibition. The event has gained importance and is increasing in size and quality over the years. The presence of international quality exhibition and conference centre at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre is apt venue to have the largest exhibition by IIF.
The formation of Asia Foundry Forum and the decisive role played by India in the formation has resulted in deciding India to be the venue for the 2nd Asia Foundry Forum. This has given an opportunity to interact with Asian giant and world leader in metal casting production, China among other countries. This forum will bring together 12 leading Asian countries who will share their Best practices for Sustainability and growth, which forms the main theme for all deliberations.
Indian foundry industry has successfully sustained the global melt down and has held its own to become globally the second largest producer of metal castings. The present international scenario also demands India to be vigilant to sustain and retain the position. If India has to move further and be a leader, Innovation is the only means and I congratulate the Organising Committee for a well thought out & appropriate theme -MOULDING SUCCESS THROUGH INNOVATION. The Technical deliberations will focus on the emerging techniques and technologies for further improving & optimizing Quality, Cost and Delivery.
There are several novel programs planned in this Congress and one such forum will be the STUDENT FORM. This Forum is one such attempt to showcase the foundry industry as a potential growth area for the student community. It is planned to invite students from the engineering colleges and have them participate in the interesting programs. The Young Core Group of the IIF is playing the pivotal role in this activity and I congratulate them on this idea. Apart from this, the congress will be hosting CEO Meet, Energy Forum and many more interesting programs to quench the intellectual thirst of the delegates. South India and Bangalore in particular, is famous for hospitality and delegates and guests will enjoy variety of entertainment and mouth watering cuisine to remember the event for ever.
I welcome you all to join and participate in this mega event. |
Chairman Organising Committee Message
Dear Foundrymen,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the forthcoming 60th Indian Foundry Congress and IFEX 2012, which is being held concurrently with 2nd Asian Foundry Forum , at the garden city of Bengaluru from 2nd to 4th March 2012.
The theme of the congress is aptly chosen as Moulding Success through Innovation. Currently all inputs to our foundry industry are priced at international levels. Even the power costs, which are high in India, are almost matching the international prices. This therefore calls for foundries to formulate innovative approaches for problem solving to remain globally competitive. We should look at low cost automation in foundries as a first step—we have no other alternative.
The famous, well known engineer statesman from Karnataka, Sir M.Visvesvaraya, whose birthday is celebrated as Engineer’s Day, coined the famous slogan “ INDUSTRIALISE OR PERISH” We at IIF now have a more positive slogan “INNOVATE AND FLOURISH”
The Congress and the Exhibition will be held at BIEC (Bangalore International Exhibition Centre), one of the best of its kind in Asia with all modern facilities.
The organizing committee consists of eminent foundrymen will be offering you the best hospitality to make your visit memorable and purposeful.
I look forward to your participation in the Congress and the exhibition, which is bound to enhance your knowledge and help you indeed innovate and succeed in your venture.

Co-chairman Message
Dear Fellow Foundrymen, VALUE CREATION THROUGH INNOVATION AND INVESTMENT
After the economic melt down of 2008-2009 we are currently in the midst of uncertainties in the market .The issues connected with some of the “EUROZONE“ countries in addition to the smaller growth seen in developed markets and high inflation in developing markets like INDIA are indications of tougher times ahead.
The domestic consumption based growth of our country is more or less intact and the projections do indicate a growth of around 8 % during years ahead .The foundry industry which went thro very difficult times during 2008-10 has grown during the last 2 years. It is projected that the growth will continue during coming years ahead in line with the raising demands .But the industry is facing issues of shortages of quality power, non availability of suitable people at many levels, issues connected with the availability of natural resources like sand, and also issues connected with pollution etc .The expectations of the customers is ever increasing and they are expecting foundries to have TQM working delivering JIT supplies of varying levels giving the customers also a cost advantage. They also prefer the foundries to be their machining partners by adding more value to the product. The industry has to find appropriate innovative solutions including automation to reduce man power needs, to save power and to recycle resources. The industry has to increase the bottom-line with all these issues to attract more investments which are very much needed.
IIF is an unique organization having members from all areas of the foundry industry including suppliers of material, machinery and technology and research scholars in addition to foundries. The IFC and the exhibition conducted every year by the IIF gives an unique opportunity for the entire foundry fraternity to come together to jointly meet the market dictations. 60 th IFC and 2 nd AFF at Bangalore are being conducted at a crucial time and hence are very unique and I am confident that the requirements of the foundry industry to take on the above challenges to march ahead will be largely met by the congress and the exhibition. AFF gives an over all view of the indian foundry industry to the international partners. I am confident that the foundry industry will be benefiting fully from the opportunity given to the industry by IIF. I wish all the foundry fraternity a very useful and prosperous meet during the congress. I appreciate the dedicated work being done by the organizing team in making the events a grand success

With the present Market Paradoxes of High Growth coupled with sudden Low Demand, it is imperative that the Asian Foundry Industry deliberate and take a considered view on how to Sustain the industry, through the upheavals in the Market and in the Business Environment along with the Demographic challenges.
The Second Asian Foundry Forum will meet in Bangalore during the 60th IFC / IFEX to present various points of views from the participants / office bearers of the Foundry Industry Organisations from more than a dozen Asian Countries including China, Japan, S Korea, Taiwan, Australia among others.
